Call for abstracts

Abstracts based on, but not limited to the themes and subthemes of the Conference are invited from past and current students of the University of Port Harcourt School of Public Health, and other intending participants, for virtual oral presentations during the 2025 Annual Scientific Conference.

Theme: Translational research for improved service delivery and national development

Abstracts are classed into tracks that address specific sub-theme of the conference and will be presented on days that are earmarked for the sub-theme. Authors are therefore expected to clearly indicate the track their abstract is made for. 

Track 1: Academic Public Health
Track 2: Professional Public Health
Track 3: Epidemiology
Track 4: Health Systems Management
Track 5: Environmental Health
Track 6: Health Information Management
Track 7: Community Health
Track 8: Public Health Nutrition
Track 9: Health Promotion and Communication
Track 10: Population and Reproductive Health
Track 11: Occupational Health

Abstracts for oral presentations must not exceed 300 words including authors’ details, titles, affiliations, contact details (phone, e-mail) of corresponding author and keywords.

Authors may submit multiple abstracts. All the submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and successful applicants will be informed before the conference.

The abstract must be structured as follows:

Title: This should be specific, relevant, clearly aligned to the aim of the study, and should not exceed 22 words.

Author(s) details: Name(s), affiliations (department, institution, country) contact phone and e-mail of corresponding author. The names of the presenting Author should be underlined.

Background: This should include brief panoramic overview of the subject of research, summary of available knowledge and the gaps that will be filled. The justification(s), hypothesis and objectives should be clearly stated.

Methods: This should be concise but sufficiently detailed for reproducibility. Briefly describe the study design, procedures for data collection and analysis. Ethical considerations should be highlighted.

Results: Summarise the main findings including statistical results.

Conclusion: This should be based on the findings, highlighting key takeaways, contributions to the field, and implications for policy, practice and future research.

Key words: 5 -7 relevant key words.

Abstract should be written in English Language, Times New Romans with font size of 12, and single line spacing. The main body of the abstract should be aligned on both sides.
